JOHN WALTON LIFTS THE PROJECTDARTS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

TWO TIME WORLD CHAMPION
John Walton lifted the Projectdarts World championship and declared himself a two time world champion and with this been a registered event and the way he played well no one can say otherwise. The no 4 seed kicked things off in a tournament that included both PDC & BDO and six different nationalities with victory over Nottinghams Paul Hodges never missing a chance to take out the double and coming away with a 6-0 victory before making the last 8 hitting 5 maximums in a 7-1 victory over a battling performance from "the mouth" keiran evans.London's Jamie Robinson took an early lead against john in the quarter finals but it was the Sheffield man rattling of 5 out of 7 legs as he made the semi's 8-5.Terry "the terminator" Temple from York in North Yorkshire was next up for John and after the no 4 seed took early advantage to lead 5-3 it was the Terminator who came back to level the game at 7-7 before john put in two sub 15 dart legs to close out the game 9-7 in what was a blistering paced game.Darren "dynamite" Johnson from Mexbrough would meet him and the no.1 seed proved just why he was as he won arguably the match of the tournament as play stopped on the next board to watch as Darren and barnsly's Brian "doggy" Dawson produced what can only be described as a game fit for a world champ final as all legs under 17 darts and 9 under 15 with Brian missing two darts to make the last 16 but it was Darren Johnson going through 6-5.The top seed would then rattle off four legs in a row when poised at 3-3 with Worksop's Daz Layden to go into the last 8 with a 7-3 victory. With Darrens opposition unable to make the last 8 due to work commitment it was Darren Johnson vs Lee Cushworth who had played some quality darts to get to the semi's but Dynamite living up to his name as he rattled in 5 sub 13 dart legs in a row to lead 5-0 and was recording a 120+ ave before Lee got off the mark but it was Darren's match as he ran out a 9-1 winner recording over 100 at the end and lee hitting 90ave.John would share the first 4 legs with Darren in the final before hitting 4 legs on the spin and lead at the break 7-3 with both men hitting maximums and sub 15 dart legs for fun. After the break john went into over drive and Darren looked tired as John won the last 3 legs in under 40 darts to record a 10-3 victory over fellow Yorkshire man and take the very first PDP/Projectdarts World Darts Championship.
