JOHN WALTON LIFTS THE PROJECTDARTS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

TWO TIME WORLD CHAMPION
John Walton lifted the Projectdarts World championship and declared himself a two time world champion and with this been a registered event and the way he played well no one can say otherwise. The no 4 seed kicked things off in a tournament that included both PDC & BDO and six different nationalities with victory over Nottinghams Paul Hodges never missing a chance to take out the double and coming away with a 6-0 victory before making the last 8 hitting 5 maximums in a 7-1 victory over a battling performance from "the mouth" keiran evans.London's Jamie Robinson took an early lead against john in the quarter finals but it was the Sheffield man rattling of 5 out of 7 legs as he made the semi's 8-5.Terry "the terminator" Temple from York in North Yorkshire was next up for John and after the no 4 seed took early advantage to lead 5-3 it was the Terminator who came back to level the game at 7-7 before john put in two sub 15 dart legs to close out the game 9-7 in what was a blistering paced game.Darren "dynamite" Johnson from Mexbrough would meet him and the no.1 seed proved just why he was as he won arguably the match of the tournament as play stopped on the next board to watch as Darren and barnsly's Brian "doggy" Dawson produced what can only be described as a game fit for a world champ final as all legs under 17 darts and 9 under 15 with Brian missing two darts to make the last 16 but it was Darren Johnson going through 6-5.The top seed would then rattle off four legs in a row when poised at 3-3 with Worksop's Daz Layden to go into the last 8 with a 7-3 victory. With Darrens opposition unable to make the last 8 due to work commitment it was Darren Johnson vs Lee Cushworth who had played some quality darts to get to the semi's but Dynamite living up to his name as he rattled in 5 sub 13 dart legs in a row to lead 5-0 and was recording a 120+ ave before Lee got off the mark but it was Darren's match as he ran out a 9-1 winner recording over 100 at the end and lee hitting 90ave.John would share the first 4 legs with Darren in the final before hitting 4 legs on the spin and lead at the break 7-3 with both men hitting maximums and sub 15 dart legs for fun. After the break john went into over drive and Darren looked tired as John won the last 3 legs in under 40 darts to record a 10-3 victory over fellow Yorkshire man and take the very first PDP/Projectdarts World Darts Championship.

As darting fans and darting royalty swarmed into Sheffield to watch and support there favourites it was a long and eventful day full of Darts,Darts an more..

The first round got underway as No1 seed Tony "the tiger" Darlow had too much fire power as he beat "the hitman" Paul Beck with both men hitting maximums to set a very high standard for the rest of the day.Carl Moorhouse made his way to the stage with the lovely walk on girl Kiera only to fall short to PDC star Darren "dynamite" Johnson as he walked on to AC/DC TNT continued to blast his way to a 4-0 victory.Yorkshire's no1 Julie White was in outstanding form hitting a 4 sub 20 dart legs to beat Lester "big red" Bowers and again prove why she is one of the best in the world. Her Husband Nick White followed her there with a 4-2 hard fought game over Ryan "the manic" Goffin coming from 2-0 down to win 4-2.Nick would then go on to beat Julie 4-2 in the last 8 and set up a semi-final against Darren Johnson who blasted in a 103 av hitting 12/13/12/17 dart legs in a 4-1 win over top seed Tony Darlow and then would scrape through to the final as nick white came from 2-1 down to lead 3-2 in the semi only for dynamite to deep way down deep and record a 4-3 victory to no.9 seed Darren Johnson into the final.Rich "bullseye" Beck beat a below par Billy Wragg but what an achievement for the young lad making it into the grand final of such a big event bullseye would then meet Bob Pinder who got the better of a terrific battle over John Daniels as the battle of the south Yorkshire men proved a cracker Bob would then break at 2-1 down and again at 3-2 up to win a place in the semi's and he would meet no.2 seed Carl "the sword" Wilkinson who after beating "Mr 19" Andy Radford 4-1 would then take out "the messiah" Brian Lewis 4-0 after Brian had taken a tremendous game against Darren "the dream" Weaver.Bob Would edge the semi 4-3 with all legs going with throw. With Darren 2dynamite" Johnson and Bob "pinhead" Pinder making ways with AC/DC and Offspring we witnessed a terrific final as both men proving why they both made it to this stage with both men touching a 90av. several legs below 15,maximums it was Bob Pinder who just won a nervous last leg to take the title 5 legs to 4.He now joins the elite of the sport in the PDC in January.
What an amazing day as Sheffield hosted such a huge event for local player to be involved in.
