Newbold Grand slam took place this week and it was a brilliant tournament full of cracking darts and with well over 330 legs of darts.

A very close affair it was as it was littered with some of the top county players taking part and as all Grand slams it was group stages leading to a straight knockout

Group A

Yorkshire County star Paul Moore was the winner of Group A winning all games in a very tough group by seeing off the very dangerous Pete Daffin,Steve Tingy,Jack Brooks and Chris  in the first game with both men going through to the knockout stages

Group B

This was a very close one with a last game decider and a resulting shootout to go through.
Steve Meek was unsuccessful in his opener against the unlucky player of the group just missing out Bob Pinder going down 4-3 but then rallied to win the next three over Eggy Zanderberg,Steve Smith and finally over Paul woolfe which set up a shootout against the same man to decide the group winner which he won also and going through with Paul also.

The last 8 continued in the same style with some tremendous arrows thrown in the opener of round two Paul Moore was 1st into the semis with a bloodless victory taring into Mark Crossley and coming away 4-0.Paul would meet Darren Johnson in the last four as he hit a 177 with a 124 outshot after both men had shared maximums with Darren winning 4-2.Trevor Burkhill lead 2-0 before Paul woolfe got a leg back and then Trev hit another two more to win 4-1 and the last quarter final was great as Steve Ward and Chris Lacey held throw all the way with Lacey edging it 4-3.The 1st semi final Paul Moore broke DarrenJohnson early and never looked back as the PDC star chased that break with Paul winning 4-2 but a different story in the other with Turbo Trev racing into a 3-0 lead over chris Lacey only to stumble getting over the line and letting Chris claw back to three all and then Trev shading out a last leg decider and meet fellow Yorkshire player in the final.Trevor found himself 1-0 up and then 2-1 down before hitting three sub 18 dart legs to put himself on the brink of victory at 4-2 but another rally from Paul lifted him back to 4-3 only for Turbo Trev to power his way through the line and record a 5-3 victory to take the Newbold Grand Slam at the Newbold WMC.

Qschool Sounds So Lovely For Thomas

It was the Club Qschool tournament at the Players bar in Rotherham and although the tournament was let down by over half the field not showing it was left with the rest throwing what will be described as the best and highest standard seen at a Club Qschool on record with well over 60 maximums and no fewer than 30 100+ checkouts.

Thomas Lovely was the star for the day as he makes his way to Wigan in January and any repeat near todays arrows will see him go very close. He kicked off today with a win over Challenge tour player Steve Hattersley with both men recording maximums.Tom then lost out to group winner Garry Davison who is a real talent that is for sure.Thomas then had a close game with his Dad Eddie Lovely a seasoned county star and challenge tour supremo who topped group 2.Thomas then produced a masterclass of finishing to see off  England international Brian Doggy Dawson 5-4 in one hell of a game.Lee Cushworth was his opponent in the final after lee produced terrific darts all day and dersrved his spot in the final as he beat Bob Pinder,Adam Howard and Rob holroyd to claim top spot and then beat Greg Beard 5-2 before rattling off 3 ton plus outs including a 160 to come from 4-2 down to win 5-4 and set up the final but Lee was unlucky and ran out of steam after such a thrilling semi and came across Thomas who smashed in 15,16,12,17,18 for a 5-0 win in the final.Gary Davison and Brian Dawson was the losing semis with Gary having the better of Lester Bowers in a belting game with lester clawing back from 4-0 to level for the terrific last leg.Brian Dawson saw off Bob Pinder in the last 8 with legs of 15x3,13x2 and shared 6 maximums between them.Brilliant days darts of the highest quality.also on group 1 Dave Wilson and Kieron Potts proving tough opponents along with Gary Bright and a unlucky danny Glenger in group 2 with Steve Hattersley missing out in group 3 and Adam Howard,Rob Holroyd going out in the group of death
