Damorf Show His Steel

Marfleet beats Ellis in thrilling final


steel City Championship at the Woodbourne was in full swing the weekend as Steve "Damorf" Marfleet took the tournament from Tiny Marc Ellis in a cracking match up.



Steve won through to the finals after seeing off John "Roger" Edwards 4-2 with John smashing in a maximum steve then beat the WDL champion Pat Meeson before playing the game of the night against Big Red Lester Bowers 4-3 after Lester had already beat Chris Markahm and a revenge match with Pete Bell.Marc Ellis had a tricky path through also with wins over Tracey Bell and John Lieber before an encounter with Ben Dulley in the Semis with Ben on top form seeing off Steve Ewington 4-3 in a brilliant game and also Mick hulley but it was Marc Ellis who made his 3rd steel city final.

Ben Boom Beardmore continued his superb start to the Pikado Liga with two top class performances including a trio of back to back 18 dart legs against Kevin JKagger but Kevin then his a 6-1 win himself over Nikki Orman who also continues to improve.Lee Slack won twice also in very hard fought contest against Tony Hirst and Ben Chivers in a Wizards battle.Steve Hattersley and Dave Wilson lay two points behind after both recorded good wins this week against Owen Cubitt and Bob Lamb.Sie simons and Tom Briggs also keep up pressure with both picking up lots of points this week as did Croc who recorded two win against top 16 opponents.Maison Wilson and Liam Johnson gave us game of the week when they played out a 4-3 with a last leg decider and Tom Sawford was player of the week after beating two players who will probably make the top 10 at the end of the season John Leach and Brian Lewis.Paul Hurley joined the league this week and looks a real threat to all who play.

Temple goes one better in masters title

The 4th Red Dragon International Masters at the Players Bar in Rotherham was won by Terry Temple beating off a good field with wins over Steve Meek 5-4 ,Trevor Burkhill 5-4,Mark Gurran 6-3,Bob Pinder 6-3(s/f),Carl Wilkinson 6-3 in the final and carl made it also by beating Tom gurran,Rich Beck 6-1 and Ben Beardmore 6-3(s/f) in a tremendous day of darts.Semi Finalist was Bob Pinder who got through a classic encounter with Lester Bowers,Owen Cubitt,Tony Molyneaux before going out to Terry,Ben Beardmore was also a semi finalist seeing off Brian Lewis and Chris Markham on way to the final.Terry now becomes the 4th player to win the title after Kev Rimmer,Brian Dawson & John Walton .He also made the final back in 2016

Hattersley smacks in 4 maximums :Pikado Liga

Night two of the Torek Pikado Liga and it is starting to create some interesting rivalries at the players sports bar as the two young hero's recent Yorkshire Classic champion 11yo Maison Wilson is deadlocked with 11yo superstar Charlie Stocks as both of em with exact points.the womens division is looking good too with several woment having won and lots of legs taken too with Deb Macabrey heading the way as for the men lots of family contest involved but overall interest with the gauntlet set down already with a 167 by steve Hattersley.

Dave Wilson was straight into gear this week with fine wins over John Lieber 5-2 with a maximum for John and a win over Kate Catrell who played very well indeed.Kate was unlucky to get young Maison Wilson too who also recorded a 7-0 win and a 4-3 victory over Lee slack in a close match with Maison hitting a maximum.Sie Simons had a tremendous win over Pete Bramley and a great win over the very tough Anthony Ainsworth 6-1,Pete came bback with a win over Martin Pell hitting 2 maximums on the night.Steve hattersley rattled in 4 180s in his win over Nikki Orman and another in his defeat to Shaun Greenfield with Croc picking up his 2nd win of the evening and remain unbeaten.Brian Lewis won his game with 5th place Tom Briggs in a tight contest 5-2 before Tom then registered a 5-2 win over the very good Clair Thom.Charlie Stocks back from his 2nd victory over Wayne Mardle recorded a 5-2 win over Tom Sawford a match between two excellent young players and Charlie then recorded a 6-1 win against Martin Simons.Micky Stock won 6-1 and 7-0 to keep top spot and the very hard working Tony hirst moved into contention with a nice victory 5-2 over Luke Orman another very talented Young player.

Ben Beardmore kept the strong performances going rattling 3 ton plus checkouts in his victory.Super Sue Sue Sue Edwards got off the board with 4-3 win over Matt Simons.Mandy slack went down 7-0 to Chris Simons who remains unbeaten so for winning all games and now sits just behind his dad who has also picked up 3 good wins so far.Leon Boden picked up his debut win 4-3 over Andrew Friar.Win of the week has to go to John Leach who on his debut picked up a 6-1 win against the very good Bob Lamb with game of the week Gav Markham and Ben Beardmore with both men smashing the treble 20 and boom winning 5-2.

Pinder Wins His 7th SDM

Pinder takes his 7th SDM win

Bob Pinder won his 7th SDM title and his 35th PDP tournament over the weekend with a glimpse of his form returning.Bob had good wins over Ian Hendry,Liam Piddington,Thomas wright and the last SDM winner Rob Holroyd and Rob was there with win over Lee Cushworth,Lester Bowers,Owen Cubitt and Steve Meek.Both men playing very well all day.Young Thomas Wright made his way to the semis after good wins over Brad Cloweryand Vaugh fairclough showing that improvement is coming all the time with Steve Meek taking out Danny Hall in a close 4-3 game,Jake Rhodes and the 180 king Martin Somerton.
Bonus Points went to Martin with most maximums on the day with least darts won by Bob Pinder and highest finish Rob Holroyd.

Titan draws first blood in steel

A terrific tournament to kick off the Steel City championship at the Woodbourne Hotel and it went to the Titan Greg Beard with a brilliant performance to see off a excellent display by Adam Warner in the Final.
