Beardmore & Stocks Tie For Pikado Title

It was Ben Beardmore and Micky Stocks who tied for top spot at the end of the Pikado season as we went into the end of season knockout and players battling away for 20 weeks at the best of 6 legs was privy to one leg straight shoou out of 501 and the higher placed up the table you was then you gave the darts away

Always a nice twist to this one but Micky Stocks was outstanding all night and had to be with this crucial format for but he saw off Tom Briggs,Charlie Stocks,Tony hirst and shaun Greenfield while all players was sat on a double especially Greenfield who wanted tops after a fine run himself winning Pete Bramley, tom Sawford and John Lieber.Micky getting there was not as much of a shock as his opponent in the final as it was the man who had finished in the low 20s Andy Friar who performed brilliant to see off good players in Mandy & Lee slack,Deb McCabrey and Kev Jagger had beaten Clair Thom,Anne Lofthouse and Paul Brittle before going down to Andy friar.Andy put up a brave fight in the final but went out to a supereb 120 outshot possibly the best you will see 25,T15,Bull to cap of a terrific night of darts before the presentation.

Ben Beardmore and Micky Stocks shared the Pikado Liga Title with Steve Hatterley in 3rd who also picked up least darts with 4th place Tom Sawford and was unlucky not to add highest finish as he hit a 167 on day one but on the final day a sublime 170 out for bob Lamb got him highest finish and 26 maximums was Micky Stocks tally.

Lester Bowers takes steel win

BIG RED TAKES STEEL

It was Lester Bowers time to put his name on the steel roll of honour as he held off a fightback by Adam Warner in a great final.Lester raced into a 3-0 lead before referee Adam Warner hit back with the next two legs and missed darts to level but it was Lester who held his nerve to take the qualifier.Lester had played well all night seeing off the likes of Mick hulley and Pat Meeson on route to the final and Adam Warner beat Ben Dulley and survived six match darts against a brilliant performance by Antonio cruz who had won his place in the semis and lead 3-0 against Adam before a fightback sealed a mammoth effort  and a place in the final.Lester no moves up to 3rd on the table with the top 32 going through to finals day

Yorkshireman Wilson Takes SDM Championship

Dave Wilson from Yorkshire became the 4th man to win the SDM title in a complete exhibition of natural talent. He would see off competitor after competitor and threw magical darts at the time.

Tom Sawford & Dave wilson

In the first and 2nd rounds we had some cracking matches to see us down to the last 16 with none better that trevor Tye taking on 11th seed Vaughn Fairclough a match that had 3x21,17,15 and 3x180s between the players and Vaughn winning 4-2,brilliant game. Also in the last 32 Sie simmons and Ben Dulley the 6th seed had a close encounter as Ben won through 4-3 and Tom gurran and Ian Hendry did the same but say a spare for 7yo Evan Hendry who had earned his place in the finals and was unlucky going out to 2nd seed Dave Wilson and he also hit a few 140s and missed a couple of double as did Maison Wilson the Yorkshire Youth Champion who was knocked out by 13th seed Steve Hattersley.

The last 16 was when the seeded players would go at each other and with 13 left it would be tough for the qualifiers and lets start with former Champion Bob Pinder who took out Anne Lofthouse with ease 4-0 and likewise for the other Qualifier Mark gurran who went down to Brian Lewis but the last qualifier lead 3-2 against rob Holroyd seeded 7 only for Rob to fight back and nick it at the end.Tom Sawford hit a 180 on his way to a 4-0 win over 13th seed Ian Hendry to send the player ranked 5 into the last 8 and a match up with Ryan goffin who won a close match with Steve Hattersley 4-3 and down to the wire.Lester Bowers seeded 3 had a chance to beat last years R/up Trevor Burkhill but lost out 4-3 in which both men had a maximum and a 12 dart leg for Trev.Dave Wilson continued to progress going into the last 8 with a win against Owen Cubitt.

Last 8 kicked off with Brian Lewis edging out Bob Pinder as 9th Seed dethroned top Seed and Hellraiser himself Bob Pinder 4-2.Tom Sawford did the same to Ryan Goffin as he and ryan both shared maximums and Tom hitting a 116 to level the game and a 118 to win.Vaugn Fairclough went down 4-1 to Turbo Trevor Burkhill as both of them hit a 180 and 2x14s for Trev.Dave Wilson smashed in a 11 dart leg to break Rob Holroyd in the 1st and again hit a 14 to break in the 3rd and had not lost his throw all say as he went through 4-0.

The Semis started as the last round finsidh but both semi was amazingly close with Turbo trev and Dave Wilson both men not letting anything go and no one dropping throw with 6 maximmums in the game and 3x14,3x15s in a class game and Dave Wilson going into his first SDM grand Final 5-4 and a similar fate ended Brian Lewis run as he let slip a 4-1 lead only for the Shooter to climb back and win 5-4 in a absolute epic encounter .
The very first qualifier back in 2014 with r/up Brendan Marren & Steve rumble(Winner)

The final promised to be a great game but tom Sawford just didn't have anything left as he battled well the first two legs but then started to falter but had thrown excellent all day but Dave Wilson was exceptional all afternoon and held throw all day in a blistering display of darts he would win the final 5-0 and credit to both players and the rest who turned up for a terrific SDM finals and now Dave Wilson adds his name to Bob Pinder(2014) Darren Johnson(2015) Brian Dawson (2016) in becoming the Projectdarts/Red Dragon Darts Masters for 2018

The tournament has come along way since the very first qualifier back in January 2014 for that years darts masters

Bob Pinder won the latest round of the Steel City qualifier at the Woodbourne Hotel and it was a tough one too with a select field of very good up and coming talent but it was won by local legend the Hellraiser himself Bob Pinder.

Opening Round was threw up some interesting ties and none better than Lester Big Red Bowers and Greg Beard with and the Titan won through 4-2.Marc Ellis produced the performance of the round winning Ryan Goffin 4-0.Tim close like wise beating Paul brittle in another good win.

MICK HULLEY 1-4 MATT PRYOR
RYAN GOFFIN 0-4 MARC ELLIS
BOB PINDER 4-0 ANTONIO CRUZ
BEN DULLEY 4-1 AUSTIN STEBBINGS
GREG BEARD 4-2 LESTER BOWERS
STEVE MARFLEET 4-2 PAT MESSON
TIM CLOSE 4-1 PAUL BRITTLE

Last 8 had friend against friend as Marc Ellis hit a 180 against good mate Matt Pryor but it was Matts late rally to win through 4-2.Bob Pinder hit 2x180s in his victory over Ben Dulley who also hit a maximum and a 14 dart leg.Steve Marfleet edged a good battle with Tim close 4-2 and Greg Beard had too much scoring power to go through over Laura Taylor.

GREG BEARD 4-0 LAURA TAYLOR
MATT PRYOR 4-2 MARC ELLIS
BOB PINDER 4-2 BEN DULLEY
STEVE MARFLEET 4-2 TIM CLOSE

Semis was as good as the darts had been all night Bob Pinder hitting back to back 15 dart legs to go through to the final and Steve Marfleet won 4-3 over very good friend Greg Beard.

STEVE MARFLEET 4-3 GREG BEARD
BOB PINDER 4-1 MATT PRYOR

In the final Marfleet kicked off with a 16 dart leg and it was followed by Bob hitting 2x180s in a 12 dart leg.Few missed doubles in the next let in Bob to break and then he took the next to lead 3-1.Steve came back at Bob with a 17 dart leg and he had a chance in the 6th leg did Damorf but is was bob Pinder who hold his nerve to win the Final 4-2 in a great night of darts

Darlow & Meek Sweep Up Projectdarts Weekend

A tough weekend of darts with The Tiger on his way to Qschool and Steve Meek through to the Cosmo world series finals.......

we start the round up with the Club Qschool qualifier and with Pete Jacques winning the final of this one last year and seeing what he has done all eyes was on Rotherham at the players bar for this one.

Group 1

Tony Darlow was inspired as he had a 5-1 win over Steve Rumble hitting 3x180s in the game and in game two Owen had the same but went down 5-4 to the Manic Ryan Goffin.Tony Darlow then hit another 2x180s in a great win over Cubitt and Rumble just got the better of Ryan Goffin to go joint 2nd.The Tiger Tony Darlow hit ryans chance of getting through the group with a 5-0 win and Rumble followed him through doing the same to Cubitt.

Group 2
Tony molyneaux only dropped one leg on route to the next round recording a 5-1 win over Grreg Beard and bloodless shut outs of Sam Walker and Chris Keane.Greg would also qualify despatching Chris and Sam.

Group 3

Bob Pinder would take advantage of an error by Tom Gurran and win the opener 5-2 and with Carl Wilkinson not dropping a leg it came down to Carl and bob to see who would win the group as both men had qualified but Bob was faultless and won the group with a 5-0 win over an out of sort Carl.

Group 4
This one was a nail biter with everyone beating each other and Mark Gurran needing to beat Kieran evans to stand a chance of qualification which he did and then won a playoff to top the group and go through with Kieran and an unlucky Pete Bramley just missing out by one leg.

Last 8

Tony Darlow continued to be very impressive winning 5-1 over Evans who started well.Carl Wilkinson beat fellow Barnsley star Tony molyneaux and it was Carl back on form to go through 5-2.Match of the afternoon was Bob Pinder and Greg Beard with a 5-3 win for bob but all legs under 20 darts.Mark Gurran had a chance to level at 3-3 but eventually went down 5-3 to Steve rumble as the former Players bar man went into the last 4.
Steve Rumble

Semis

Bob Pinderhit legs of 13,20,15 but went down 5-3 to Steve rumble who was starting to look hungry for a return to wigan in January and his spot back on the pdc tour as he hit Bob with 20,21,15,15,19 to book his place in the final 5-3.The Tiger looking as keen as Steve would go through 5-3 against Carl but after been 4-0 up was made to work hard for the line winning 5-3 and thwarting the comeback by Wilkinson.tony hitting 14,14,19,18,18 and Carl 21,15,20 and them both sharing 4 maximums.

Final

Tony was at his best as he won the final 5-2 and all legs below 20 with Steve hitting a 14 and 18 and tony following his semi final exploits 14,18,20 to win the match and a place at qschool in January

Tony Darlow

We finish the round up with the Cosmo Qualifier which was very interesting contest with Steve Meek
proving a very tough nut to crack as he was in good spirit in his group qualifier winning Ryan Goffin 4-3,Mark Gurran 4-1 and Tom Gurran 4-1 but then fell 4-0 to Bob Pinder but came through the group 2nd and it would not be the first time he met the Hellraiser on the day.Steve Thompson,Jack Kerr and Owen Cubitt along with Kiron Potts and Jake Rhodes had a brilliant group for the spectator with 3 men finishing on 6 points and with owen shading it on leg difference it was left to Steve & Jack to play a one leg shootout with Jack edging the win.The first semi final would go to Bob Pinder with a decisive last leg to clinch victory over Jack Kerr and Steve Meek clearly liking this competition now as he rattled off 9 legs without reply winning his semi final 4-0 and then tottaly reversing the ealier match with Bob Pinder by winning the final 5-0 and taking his place in December in the cosmo world Series finals.Jack Kerr won the battle for 3rd and Kieron Potts won the plate final in a fine 2-1 win over Ryan Goffin.
