RED DRAGON DART PREMIER LEAGUE WEEK 24

With only 7 weeks to go the league is really hotting up with the top 8 all winning games this week.Trevor Burkhill played a double header winning 4-0 over Karl Salisbury Roper hitting 3x180s and then rode his luck big time in a 4-2 win over Andy Umney.John Walton won 4-0 as did Darren Johnson with 13,15,17 dart legs and Tony Darlow and Lee Cushworth so the top 5 still have nothing between em.Simon Birkett kept pressure on the top 5 and keeps himself in the hunt with a fine victory over Andy Taylor who then recovered to beat John Daniels after John himself had just beaten Chris Keane 4-0.

Projectdarts youth tour in association with Reddragondarts and Protege events
It was the 2nd in our youth competition's this Saturday gone and although the turn out wasn't the best the quality was top notch as group B had no fewer than five county players in.the stars of Group A was little Beau Greaves at just 10yo she is throwing county standard darts already as she clearly is one for the future if not now and her victory over PDC star Brandon Walsh was world class after drawing level she then took out legs 3&4 with finishes of 113&114 to top the group.she qualified from the group wit flying colours along with Brandon Walsh and Ben Oldroyd.in Group B Cameron Hinchcliffe got into his stride quick and qualified quite comfy with only defeat coming at the hand of Taylor Greaves who was faultless all afternoon winning all matches and they was followed into the next faze by Jak Kerr who with performance in this and a semi final in the other youth comp becomes youth tour number 2.Beau was unlucky to out to Cameron Hinchcliffe in the Q/F but Cameron would then fall to Brandon in the semi's and Brandon would meet Taylor Greaves who made the final beating Ben Oldroyd in the semi final and then would run out a 3-0 winner in the final and claim 1st prize and the title of the Woodbourne open youth tour.

TREV BURKHILL 3-0 IAN COOK
DARREN JOHNSON 3-0 ANTONIO CRUZ

2nd round

Darren Weaver would need a 16 dart leg to put Julie White out as again she proved to be on par with the best male players.Kenny Hoult would fire in two maximums as he went into the last 8 with victory over Mike Ivietch,Trevor Burkhill and Carl Moorhouse would again have a terrific game with both men hitting maximums but it was the Sheffield player going through.Darren Johnson had too much fire power for Tony Darlow going into the last 8 also.Chris Gill hit another maximum and an 11 dart leg in his victory over John Bowler and he would meet Billy Wragg who made yet another last 8 spot in a SDM proving how good this youngster is.Matt Padgett would fire in two 14 dart legs to beat the dark night and Kieran Evans hitting another 180 but would just go out to Brian Lewis.

BRIAN LEWIS 3-2 KIERAN EVANS
MATT PADGETT 3-1 DAVE COPLEY

DARREN JOHNSON 3-1 TREVOR BURKHILL
DARREN WEAVER 3-0 KENNY HOULT
MATT PADGETT 3-1 BRIAN LEWIS
CHRIS GILL 3-0 BILLY WRAGG

Semi-Finals

CHRIS GILL 3-1 MATT PADGETT
in the first of the semis Matt Padgett went into the lead 1-0 with a nice little finish only for Chris to hit back with the next leg firing in a maximum also and then stretch his lead 2-1 ,Matt then kicked off with good scores in the next but a 13 dart leg would be enough to send Gill into the final.

DARREN JOHNSON 3-2 DARREN WEAVER
a lot of history between these two but level at 1-1 it was the man from Mexbrough that got the decisive dart to take the lead only for the Armthorpe player to level again but a good finish in the last leg sent Darren Johnson into the final to meet his long time friend.

Final
DARREN JOHNSON 3-2 CHRIS GILL
Darren weaver & Chris Gill
What a final with Dynamite taking the lead with 17 dart leg and Chris to level with the same darts.and both players again held throw in legs three and four and in the last Darren with the arrows away kicked off with a 60 and Mont would reply in his 2nd throw with a maximum and pull away but two hundred plus scores from Dynamite pulled into a finish and with Chris having first stab at the finish after some high scoring he was to miss and Daz who took out the double with his first dart and both men averaging over the 90 mark.

Again SDM tournament proving how hard they are to win as Darren Johnson becomes the 9th name to win one and making it 9 different winners from 9 tournaments,no player lifting it twice as to date but well played to all and well played to Dynamite and a deserved victory which was rounded up after winning the pairs comp with the finalist Chris Gill.

The 1st round losers comp was won by Paul Redfern for the 2nd time beating Rich Beck.

3rd Round
GAZ WATTS 5-4 MARK HAYNES

LAST 8
JOHN WALTON 5-3 GAZ WATTS
MARK LAWRENCE 5-1 LEE CUSHWORTH
KEV RIMMER 5-3 NIGEL DANIELS
SHAUN CARROL 5-3 CHRIS COOPER

Mark Lawrence got the bit between his teeth to race into a 2-0 and then 3-1 lead over John Walton but back came John boy to level the game and then go 4-3 up beofre Mark drew level at 4-4 and with both men sat on a finish it was john having the dart first only to just miss and let in Mark to hit t20 and d8 to win the game 5-4 in what was the game of the tournament.all you can say about the other semi final is that it was a blur as Kev Rimmer and Shaun Carrol put on 7 legs of the highest quality with 5 sub 15 dart legs involved and it was the midlands man from birmingham that went threw 5-2

Semi-final

MARK LAWRENCE 5-4 JOHN WALTON
SHAUN CARROL 5-2 KEV RIMMER

Mark Lawrence & Shaun Carroll
Mark lawrence started off the final in the same way he did against his semi final opponant with two 15 dart legs and with Shaun Carrol trying his hardest but maybe this was just one game too much on the day as he had also won a competition in the midlands the night before but taking nothin away from Mark "nitro" lawrence as he then rattled of 12,11,13&14 dart legs to win the final 6-0 in what can only be discribed as a tv performance of the highest quality

FINAL
MARK LAWRENCE 6-0 SHAUN CARROLL

What a grand day of darts it was and well done to all who played and a mention to Mark Craddock and Carl Moorhouse who both played out a very good final in the duffers cup with it going to the man from the midlands Mark Craddock.
